Talent Quest 2008

What an experience we had this year! We had 11 singers and a group of 15 travelling. Once again we were welcomed to the US Talent Quest.

Of the 11 singers competing seven made the semi final, including Timmy-Lou, 2008 NZ-US Talent Quest winner, and we at Global Quest 4 Talent Agency are exceptionally proud of each and every one of our performers because that is what they have become.

Gloria-Jean made the final of the Female Over 50s category and was presented with a trophy for fifth place.

In addition to the Pop Rock and Country genres, places were still available in the duet category. Moetu Hoeta and TJ Simmonds decided they would enter and rehearsed the two songs required to compete. Well guess what - they came fifth and were presented with their trophies on the final night. Well done guys!

Also on the final night the audience were treated to the Haka by the Kiwi males, supported at the back of the stage by the Kiwi ladies. The guys had been practicing for a few days and were led by TJ. Paul explained beforehand the meaning of the Haka and the audience showed their appreciation.

We have to say what a great team of ambassadors we had again this year. NZ team you have done not only yourselves and Global Quest 4 Talent proud but also New Zealand. This also includes Margie Maher, our only Australian representative. It was great to have you with us this year. Well done and thank you for being so supportive of each other and the other contestants in the US Talent Quest. Friendships were forged and tears were shed from both sides when we departed Laughlin.

This is what the principals of US Talent Quest had to say when we returned to NZ.
"Hello Paul & Gloria,

We at US Talent Quest would like thank you and the wonderful group of contestants that came to the United States of America and competed from the Oceania Region of the World in the US Talent Quest Nationals. It was a privilege for us to meet such a well organized and polite group of performers.

We are hearing comments from contestants around the USA, judges and Talent Quest staff on how "the New Zealand contestants were the nicest group to meet, they not only supported their own contestants, but they were supporting other contestants as well. " It is so nice to hear such positive criticism coming from so many people, so I thought I would pass it on to you.

This years Nationals turned out to have some of the best talent around. We are looking forward to next year's competition and seeing all of you again.

Thanks for being a major part of the Talent Quest contest.

Sincerely, Talent Quest Tim & Kim Brown"
What a great time we had in LAS VEGAS - a city that never sleeps and a chance to celebrate again.

We were all privileged to be invited to attend the wedding of the winner of the New Zealand Talent Quest 2008 Timmy Lou Hughley and his fiancé Rachel which was held at the Circus Circus wedding chapel and what a beautiful ceremony it was. The bride and groom looked amazing and they are a great couple. On behalf of everyone, Timmy Lou and Rachel, we wish you all the very best for your future happiness together.

In addition to a wedding one of our other singers Steve Hird and his wife Leanne took the opportunity of being in Las Vegas to renew their wedding vows two days later in the same chapel. That was very moving, except the part where Leanne hesitated when asked if she would again take Steve etc etc. Everyone held their breath and the celebrant had to wipe his brow when she finally said she would! We know you were just kidding Leanne. Again we wish you all the very best for the future guys.
